â Common Questions (read to students)
"How many hours per week do I need to study?"âŧ
About 5-6 hours per fortnight for online classes, plus 5-8 hours per week of self-directed study. It's flexible - you can fit it around work and family.
"What's the minimum time to complete the course?"âŧ
With funding: 6-12 months Full fee: 4-12 months - depends on how much time you can invest and how quickly you complete your placement hours.
"How many hours of placement do I need?"âŧ
Cert III Early Childhood: 160 hours Cert III Individual Support: 120 hours Cert IV Disability: 120 hours Diploma Community Services: 280 hours Diploma Early Childhood: 280 hours
"Will it be easy to find placement?"âŧ
Most students find placement without too much trouble - there's high demand for workers in these sectors. If you're already working in the industry, you may be able to do placement at your current workplace. We recommend starting to look for placement as soon as you enroll.
"Do you have payment plans for full fee courses?"âŧ
Yes - we offer payment plans up to 4 months. You can pay weekly or monthly, whichever works better for you.
"I have a degree in something else - can I skip Cert III?"âŧ
Unfortunately no - the prerequisites are a mandatory requirement from the government, regardless of other qualifications. Even with a Masters degree in another field, you still need the Cert III first. It's about having the specific skills for this industry.

â Eligibility for SA Funding (read to prospect)
â Are you 16 years or older?
â Do you live in South Australia?
â Are you an Australian citizen, NZ citizen, permanent resident, or on an eligible visa?
â Are you NOT currently enrolled in a similar government-funded course?
đĄī¸ Objection Handlers (tap to expand)
"Is it really only $560?"âŧ
Yes - the South Australian government covers most of the cost through Skills SA funding. You only pay the $560 learner contribution. There's no catch - the government is investing because there's a huge shortage of qualified childcare workers right now.
"How long does it take?"âŧ
6-8 months, and it's flexible online study so you can fit it around work or family. You'll also do 160 hours of work placement in a childcare centre - we can help you arrange that, or if you're already working in childcare, you might be able to do it at your current workplace.
"Do I need any experience or qualifications?"âŧ
No prior experience needed. You just need Year 12 or equivalent, and to be 18 or over when you start. We do a quick language and literacy check as part of enrollment to make sure you'll succeed, but it's not a barrier - it's to help us support you.
"What jobs can I get?"âŧ
Childcare educator, family day care worker, outside school hours care, nanny positions. There's massive demand right now - most of our graduates have jobs lined up before they even finish. Starting pay is around $28-32 per hour.
"What about the police check / WWCC?"âŧ
You'll need a National Police Check and Working with Children Check before you start your placement. These are at your own cost, but they're standard for anyone working with children. We'll guide you through the process when the time comes.
"I need to think about it"âŧ
Of course - it's a big decision. What specifically would you like to think over? (Pause and listen) ... Is it the time commitment, the cost, or something else? I want to make sure you have all the information you need.

â Do you live in South Australia?
â Are you an Australian citizen, NZ citizen, permanent resident, or on an eligible visa?
â Are you NOT currently enrolled in a similar government-funded course?
đĄī¸ Objection Handlers
"Is it really only $750?"âŧ
Yes - Skills SA funding covers most of the cost. You pay $750 instead of the full $8,500. The government is investing heavily in community services workers because there's such high demand in the sector.
"What's the difference between this and a Certificate?"âŧ
The Diploma is a higher level qualification - it qualifies you for management and specialist roles like case manager, program coordinator, or team leader. You'll earn more and have more career options. If you want to actually run programs or lead teams, this is the qualification you need.
"What jobs can I get?"âŧ
Case manager, community support coordinator, family services worker, program coordinator, social housing officer. Salary range is typically $65,000-$85,000 depending on the role. It can also be a pathway to a Bachelor of Social Work if you want to go further.
"Can I work while studying?"âŧ
Absolutely. It's flexible online delivery designed for working adults. You'll need to complete 280 hours of placement, but if you're already working in the community services sector, you may be able to do that at your current workplace.

đ¯ Why This Course Matters
This is the pathway course for Cert IV Disability.
If someone wants to do Cert IV Disability but doesn't have a Cert III yet, this is what they need to do first. It covers both aged care AND disability support, so they can work in either sector while they study toward Cert IV.
đĄī¸ Objection Handlers
"I wanted to do Cert IV Disability"âŧ
Great goal! Cert IV requires a Cert III first - that's a government requirement, not just us. The good news is this Cert III only takes 6-8 months, and then you can go straight into Cert IV. You can even start working in the sector while you study - most of our students do. Think of it as step one of your career.
"Is there funding available?"âŧ
Funding for this course is limited right now - it comes and goes based on government allocations. Let me check if there are funded places available. If not, the full fee is $3,500 and we do offer payment plans. (Check with Ash on current funding status)
"What's the difference between aged care and disability?"âŧ
This Cert III covers both - you choose your specialisation through electives and placement. Aged care is working with elderly people in nursing homes or home care. Disability is supporting people of any age with disabilities, often through NDIS. Many workers do both. The qualification lets you work in either sector.
"What jobs can I get?"âŧ
Disability support worker, aged care worker, personal care assistant, home care worker, community support worker. There's huge demand in both sectors - especially NDIS. Pay is typically $28-32/hr to start, and there's lots of work available. Once you get your Cert IV, you can move into senior and coordinator roles.
"How much is the placement?"âŧ
120 hours of direct support work in an aged care or disability setting. If you're already working in the sector, you may be able to do it at your current workplace. If not, we recommend finding a placement as soon as you enroll - we can help guide you on that.

â Eligibility Check
âDo you have a Cert III in Individual Support (Disability)? - REQUIRED
â Are you 16 years or older?
â Do you live in South Australia?
â Are you an Australian citizen, NZ citizen, permanent resident, or on an eligible visa?
đĄī¸ Objection Handlers
"I don't have a Cert III yet"âŧ
No problem - we also offer the Certificate III in Individual Support which is the prerequisite. Once you complete that, you can move straight into Cert IV. Would you like me to tell you about the Cert III pathway? It's also government funded.
"What's the difference between Cert III and Cert IV?"âŧ
Cert III is entry-level support worker - you work under supervision. Cert IV qualifies you for senior roles like support coordinator, team leader, or behaviour support. Higher responsibility, higher pay ($35-45/hr vs $28-32/hr), and you can supervise others.
"Is there demand for disability workers?"âŧ
Massive demand. The NDIS has created tens of thousands of new jobs. There's a serious shortage of qualified workers - especially at the Cert IV level. Most of our graduates have multiple job offers before they finish.
"What jobs can I get with Cert IV?"âŧ
Disability support coordinator, NDIS support coordinator, behaviour support practitioner, team leader, community access coordinator. Pay is typically $35-45 per hour, and there are pathways to diploma-level qualifications if you want to go further.

"I don't have a Cert III yet"âŧ
No problem - we offer the Certificate III in Early Childhood as well, and it's government funded at only $560. Once you complete that, you can move straight into the Diploma. Would you like to start with the Cert III?
"Why should I do the Diploma if I already have Cert III?"âŧ
The Diploma qualifies you for senior roles - room leader, educational leader, 2IC, even centre director. You'll design curriculum, supervise other educators, and earn significantly more. It's also a pathway to a Bachelor of Education if you want to become a qualified teacher.
"What's the pay difference?"âŧ
Cert III qualified educators typically earn $28-32/hr. With a Diploma, you're looking at $32-40/hr or salaried positions at $55,000-$75,000+. Room leaders and educational leaders are in high demand and well compensated.
